방송통신위원회는 8일과 9일로 이어지는 이번 주말 디도스의 공격이 일어날 가능성이 있다며, PC 이용자들의 주의를 당부했다. 미국에서 트위터,페이스북 라이브저널 등 소셜 네트워킹 사이트들이 디도스의 공격을 받아 접속이 지연되는 피해가 발생하면서 국내에서도 주의를 필요로 하고 있는 것이다.
트위터는 대선관정에서 큰 위력을 발휘했고, 국내에서도 유명 셀러브리티들을 비롯한 사용자들이 급증하며 접속자 4450만명에 달할 정도로 급성장하고 있는 소셜 네트워킹 사이트이다. 최근 김제동씨도 자신의 정치적 소신을 트위터에서 명확히 밝히면서 큰 관심을 받고 있다.
하지만 6일(현재시간) 디도스의 2차 공격으로 2시간 가량 홈페이지가 다운되었다. 이에 일상생활의 일부가 된 트위터의 접속장애로 많은 사용자들이 불편을 겪었다. 사이트 복구 후에도 정상속도를 회복하기는 힘들었고 간혈적으로 접속지연 현상을 나타냈다.
페이스북도 이날 오전 디도스 공격으로 간헐적 접속 장애를 겪었다. 트위터와 달리 완전히 불통되지는 않았지만, 페이스북 측은 관련된 네트워크 문제가 있었다고 밝혔다. 세계 최대 블로그 사이트 라이브저널 역시 이날 오전 1시간가량 디도스 공격을 받았다. 이에 따라 소셜 네트워킹 사이트들이 해커들의 새로운 공격 표적으로 부상할지 주목되고 있다.
국내에서도 디도스의 공격을 우려하며, 주의를 요하고 있다. 주말 동안 방통위와 한국인터넷진흥원은 비상대응 체계를 유지하며 국내 주요 사이트를 집중 모니터 할 계획이라고 밝혔다. 개인 PC도 이번 주말 백신 프로그램을 이용해 악성코드를 점검하고, 최신 보안패치를 다시 한 번 실시하는 게 좋다고 당부하고 있다.
